What it is

You're a golf ball, locked in the basement of a prison, and the only way out is down. Each floor is a hole: sink the ball in the drain and you drop to the floor below. Eighteen of them, from the Cell Block through the Laundry, the Kitchen, the Workshop and the Boiler Room to the Sewers, and out under the wall.

The guards walk their rounds with flashlights. Roll through the light all you like, but stop in it and you're seen; get seen long enough and you're caught, back where you dropped in, plus a stroke. Lights out is 10 PM and the guards find you at 6 AM, which is about 27 minutes of real time.

  • Drag back and let go, the way you'd pull back a slingshot. Or aim with the arrow keys and press Space.
  • Every floor has a par worked out by a search that plays it thousands of ways, aiming like a thumb does, and every shot on its route still works half a second late.
  • Each wing has its own trick. Belts, soap and laundry carts to hide in in the Laundry. Guards who listen in the Kitchen: hit a wall hard and they turn, or come over to look. Stamping presses in the Workshop, loud enough to hide a noise in. Steam in the Boiler Room that hides you while it blows, and carries you. And a current in the Sewers.
  • Scout pulls the camera back to see the whole floor and where everyone's headed.
  • The night's scorecard at the end, a paper golf card with every floor on it, stamped ESCAPED, or DNF if dawn came first. Share it, or save it.
