What it does

A pottery wheel in a quiet studio. Drag on the spinning clay with one finger: pull it up, push it in, drag down on the top to open it. Then finish it, fire it, and keep it.

The wheel hums and the clay hisses under your finger. Every sound is made as it plays, not recorded.

  • Carve rings, ribs, flutes, a spiral or dots into the wall as it turns.
  • Decorate it with a coat of slip, sgraffito scratched through it, trailed lines and dots, four stamps and three roulette wheels.
  • Put things on it: handles, a spout, lugs, or a lid with a knob. For a handle, pull a strap, then place it on the wall. You throw the lid on its own, and it fits the pot.
  • Turn it by hand. When the wheel is stopped, drag the wheel head to turn the pot round. A flick lets it coast.
  • Glaze it in six glazes. Dip it in the bucket, brush a band as it spins, or pour over the rim. The colour comes out in the kiln.
  • Fire it with a press and hold. The bricks go up around it and the flames come on. Firing is final: undo stops there.
  • The shelf keeps your last ten pots. Tap one to hold it up close and turn it round.
  • Print it. Download any pot on the shelf as STL, OBJ or 3MF, 60, 100 or 150 mm tall. The walls are at least 2 mm thick, and the 3MF keeps the glaze colours.
  • Open a pot from a link. A link can carry a whole pot. A fired one goes on your shelf, and one still to fire goes on the wheel. The pot is in the part of the link that never leaves your browser.
  • Keys work too: the arrows shape the clay, Enter carves, decorates, glazes or attaches, and [ and ] turn the stopped pot.
